Economic Recovery and New Healthcare Legislation: The Stars Are Aligned for Increased Adoption of HR Management Systems (HRMS)

Acente Solutions launches new HR Business Process Consulting practice to guide emerging companies in their migration from manual, spreadsheet-based HR processes to fully automated Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS).

Mendham, NJ (Issues Wire / PRWEB) May 17, 2010 -- Never before have so many businesses stood to gain so much, by transitioning to automated HR platforms. A number of factors are making this the right time to invest in HRMS, including the new healthcare legislation which is expected to drive more attention to compliance and risk management, and the continuing strength of the job market which is going to lead to renewed attention to talent management and retention at mid-management levels and above.

“With the early signs of an economic recovery, I am already starting to hear the urgency in the voice of many HR professionals I speak to regularly,” says Nick Laudano, Founder of Acente Solutions, a leading HRMS solutions provider in New Jersey. “The companies that find themselves poised to grow again are taking a hard look at their HR processes, and they don’t like what they see!” added Laudano. Running HR departments on spreadsheets seemed like an acceptable and necessary practice while most companies were in “survival mode” during the downturn. But now, considering that manual HR processes are not able to support the anticipated growth, and taking into account the compliance risk posed by inadequate HR audit trails, the sense of urgency among HR professionals increased dramatically.

HRMS solutions and the automation of HR processes have traditionally been adopted at higher rates in large organizations, while most SMBs stay with manual systems until either the pain level becomes unbearable or a catastrophic event happens (like a lawsuit that leads to substantial financial impact and employee moral problems). However, as is often the case with technology, the value-benefit equation has changed in the favor of the customer, which is yet another motivation for SMBs to act sooner rather than later. “With labor costs being more than 1/3 of operating costs, and employee turnover costs ranging from 50% to 200% of annual salaries, a one-time investment in HRMS tends to be one of the highest and fastest ROI pay-backs you’ll ever see in business,” explained Laudano.

A well-armed HR department with automated, predictable business processes is the lifeblood of most businesses. “Human capital has always been, and will continue to be, your most valuable asset yet some companies are still willing to manage HR processes using spreadsheets. That is clearly a going-out-of-business strategy in the long term,” claimed Laudano.

In order to meet the demand, and help emerging companies gracefully migrate from manual processes to HRMS, Acente Solutions has announced the launch of a new HR Business Process Consulting practice. The practice brings to bear years of experience in optimizing HR environments across many industries, to deliver a custom business process assessment of the client’s HR environment, and offer recommendations based on proven best practices. The consulting engagements come in three different packages: Best Practices Assessment, System Integration & Optimization, and HR Process Management.

Sage Abra SQL HRMS Version 10 Brings New Level of Collaboration Between HR and Management

Sage North America today released Sage Abra SQL HRMS version 10, the latest version of Sage’s award-winning human resource management system (HRMS) for small and midsize companies. Sage Abra is a market-leading HRMS that improves company efficiency by centralizing employee data, simplifying core human resource (HR) and payroll administration and enabling better workforce-related decisions. Version 10 features a new user interface and powerful new dynamic information sharing capabilities that help companies turn workforce data into a competitive advantage.

“Finance and operations executives in midsize businesses are recognizing the value that timely and accurate workforce information can have in managing costs and successfully running the business, especially in today’s economy. This increasing demand for workforce data, available in formats and detail for individual purposes, is putting significant strain on HR departments,” said Johnny Laurent, vice president Sage Abra. “The traditional static reporting tools used by HR do not meet these new non-traditional user needs. Sage Abra Version 10 delivers the tools and flexibility for HR departments to give management the information they need, when they need it via secure web links.”

Sage Abra v10 provides dynamic information sharing through a variety of access means that put customizable information into the hands of those who need it most. This enables executives, managers and staff to access, analyze and leverage real-time workforce data without placing additional burden on the HR department. Primary to sharing information dynamically are the new View Builder feature, templates and secure web-based access.

With View Builder Sage Abra v10 enables HR to provide users with real-time access to data, which is appropriately filtered for their role within the organization. For example, “views” can be built quickly and easily for executives, directors or supervisors who have rights to certain types of data. Unique URLs then link the views to a variety of applications such as spreadsheet models, web pages and management dashboards.

Sage Abra v10 includes sample application templates, such as merit pay budgeting and contact lists, for Excel, SharePoint and other applications, to help HR and non-HR users create the specific information sharing documents they need. Sage Abra’s built-in security procedures protect data from unauthorized access, and also identify the user so that the data is filtered for that user. Each time the user accesses the application, the Abra data is automatically updated.

Sage Abra 10 also introduces a new user interface for improved efficiency. HR and payroll professionals interact with intuitive task organization, terminology and process workflow to accomplish tasks and find information quickly and easily. A new “product feedback” feature has been added that lets users participate in identifying and prioritizing future Abra improvements.
